ARG LEGALITIES

Okay guys, here's a question: is a freehand copy of a photo, like [link] considered plagiarism?

I mean, according to Copyright Policy ([link]) it is, but that's in very vague, vague terms. Is there a point at which promotional images, photoshoot photos, and various other pictures intended for wide-scale public consumption become public domain? Artists translate photographs into paintings/drawings all the time, as pages pulled from magazines for practice, or of popular people or images in an artistic endeavor to render them in a different medium. Many of these have even been dA-featured, such as the vector copy of an Ayumi Hamasaki photo, or the amazing pencil sketch of, er, some famous Russian woman? Um. And the pencil copy of the PotC official DVD cover art. I'm not saying I necessarily agree with these being featured, but clearly this means that the dA staff don't consider all these pictures to be copyright violations. And obviously most of these artists didn't get express permission to make these copies, as we would probably at least attempt to do if using a photograph taken by someone on dA (for example).

I dunno, maybe I should go put a little note in on the pic saying that it's copyright to whoever the fuck took the picture in the first place? cuz there's no way I'm ever going to be able to find out who that was. o_O

random quirks/secrets meme

So I got tagged. XP Um, not having exceptional secrets, I'll say random quirks or unknowns about myself.

1. I hate bananas. I hate them in any way, shape, or form. They are devilspawn. For serious. (actually, it's just my palate, but mine is SUPERIOR TO YOURS so stfu. XD)
2. I will fail as an author because I do not have characters talking to me in my head. The truth is out. There are no voices. I shall go hang my head in shame now. :(
3. I don't think Sephiroth is all that hot. Really, I don't. The fangirls may maul me now.
4. I'm a rabid shounen-ai/slash fangirl and I hate Gravitation. Though some of you know this already.
5. Vin Diesel probably wears a larger bra than I do.
6. "I have this problem where I can't play board games..."

Rules:
-------
The 1st player of this "game" starts with the topic 6 weird habits/things/secrets and people who get tagged need to write a journal about their 6 weird habits/things as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says "you are tagged" in their devpage comments and tell them to read yours ....

Uh... not tagging, but anyone who wants to do it can go ahead. ^^

The end of internet freedom.

So. The Moroccan government has banned the LiveJournal IP address. Not on purpose, I don't think, but it's not like they care and banned is banned. I can't access LJ at ALL. From anywhere in the country. And that's not likely to change.

I... just. All my friends are on there. My flist, my roleplays, my communities... I had a paid account, for crying out loud. It was the only site I really used regularly, the one I made time for no matter what was going on in the real world. It was really important to me. And there it goes. Down the drain. All because of some fucking selfish stick-up-the-ass paranoid conservative regimist government.

I could find some other journal site, I suppose. But it's not the journal that matters, is it? It's the friends, and their journals, and the community that's created with these people, the being with my friends, and, and godDAMNIT. Some people might think I'm ridiculous for being so attached to a freakin' website, but anyone who uses LJ the way I do would understand. It's practically a second home to me. And now it's gone, just like that. I don't know what to do. I don't know what the fuck to do.

EDIT: AMMIE FIXED IT! Next time you have a problem with your government being a fucking dick, call Ammie! XD Hey, Ammie, can you fix that little problem with that guy at the White House now? <3 ^_____^
